Annual Sports cum Cultural Fiesta- 2021

Delhi Private School, Ras Al Khaimah celebrated its Annual Sports Day cum cultural fiesta, on 11th December 2021 amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie. The hon’ble Guests gracing the event were Ms. Amina Al Zaabi, Director of Ras Al Khaimah educational zone, Mr. Nader Mandoos, Head of Educational Supervision department in Ras Al Khaimah educational zone, and Mr. Steve Reissig Chief Academic zone officer, RAKEZ. Mr. Dinesh Kothari, Managing Director of Delhi Private School presided over the event as well. Present on the occasion were also Ms. Khulood Sharif, Ms. Beena Raj Mohan, Ms. Cini Francis and a large gathering of Parents.

The event, ‘The Prism of Harmony’ saw a beautiful blend of two nations- the UAE and India. The thematic performances celebrated the rich culture, remarkable history, and a promising future of these countries.

Beginning with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a song to welcome the audience, each performance packed a punch to commemorate significant milestones our countries accomplished this year.

The Principal, Ms. Geeta Karunakaran, extended a floral and formal welcome to the Guests and dignitaries and shared a brief report of the School’s Sports activities and achievements of students. This was entailed by the hoisting of School Flag and declaration of the Meet Open followed by the lighting of the flame by our Manging Director, Mr. Kothari, accompanied by our Principal.

Performances began with students from grades I-VII performing the Yoga Aasanas to exemplify flexibility, dedication and grit!

The kindergartens, dressed in vibrant costumes and their pom-poms danced to the tunes of ‘Waka-Waka’ sung live by our music teacher, Ms. Soniya! However, this time they screamed their lungs out for ‘UAE’! Their performance was a sweet dedication to the nation where they acquire knowledge, values and skills with the promise of becoming better humans.

The third performance of the show, ‘The Hindustani Way’ was an attempt by students from grades I-III to pay homage to the indomitable spirits of the Tokyo Olympians from India!

‘Infuse’, had our talented students dance to the foot tapping beats of the ‘Arabic’ music as well as the loud thumping music of ‘Dandiya’. The songs then fused into each other to highlight the power of music and dance to unite cultures.

Our grand finale of the event left everyone bedazzled! Our students performed on the Dubai Expo 2020 song titled, ‘One World, One Family’. The song captured the theme of the sports day, ‘Prism of Harmony’ just perfectly. The students paid their respect to the UAE for being a melting pot of culture, values and accommodating people from diverse nationalities under one big roof!

While our performances did steal the show, our races like, ‘Warrior Dash’, ‘Excalibur Run’, ‘Relay’ for the students only brought to light the competitive spirit and the enthusiasm of our students. We also had races for parents and grandparents, and it was heartening to see their level of participation and agility to have fun on the tracks!

The good old, ‘Tug of war’ titled the ‘The Mighty Muscles’ between DPS Parents and Staff was a friendly match between two core stakeholders of our children.

The event concluded with the Prize distribution ceremony for our fast sprinters! They were cheered on by their friends and teachers as they stood tall on the victory stand to receive their medals and certificates.

We hope to see our students perform with the same zeal next year in 2022!
