Collage Making Competition

According to Elliot Hundley, Collage has been one of the most relevant forms of art making. It’s resonant because it is made of the stuff that we see every day. It’s familiar. It reflects our reality.

The students of DPS, RAK put their best foot forward to participate in the collage making competition with much enthusiasm. The students from grades 3-5 used old magazines, newspaper and journals to recreate gems of UAE landscape.

The intent behind the competition was to build and encourage creativity while keeping a keen eye on their surroundings to reuse and recycle old things to create a beautiful piece of art.

We were pleased to have the students depict their surrounding scenery by using magazines and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper.

The collage enabled the students to view the world around them with a unique eye to generate ideas and to produce ‘complete’ bits of arts from ‘scraps.
